Armadillos, Armadillo Pictures, Armadillo Facts – National Geographic.

You never know what you’ll see in the backyard of rural Florida.  One recent morning while walking in the back acre I heard a rustling in the bushes.  Fortunately the sound was coming from the neighbor’s woods.  My fenced yard kept the Border Collies safe.  Two big Armadillos waddled along the fence line, stopping to dig in the ground before moving on.  Neighbor Bill had said the catlike turds in the driveway were probably Armadillos and he showed me where they had dug a big hole in his lawn.  After researching these mammals on the Internet it is even more interesting to share the nearby forest with them.

To date I have encountered squirrels, a red fox, rabbits, snakes and turtles just in the back yard alone, not to mention various beautiful birds.  The Florida panhandle is an interesting place, so different from Oregon or New England.
